Peter Novas, age 95, fell asleep in the Lord October 11, 2023. Beloved husband of Thomasine Novas nee Dreko for 67 years. Loving father of Dr. Jeanne (Al Busano) Novas and Dr. Lorraine Novas. Devoted son of the late Irakli and Martira Novas. Proud grandfather of Jonathan and Vincent Busano and Dr. Lana (Jonathan Rockower) Kammerer and the late Eric Kammerer. Dear brother of Anesti (Betti and the late Ilektra) Nova, Xristina (the late Theodosis) Poulouki and the late Eleni. Beloved uncle of Taki (Brigit) Istavarinos, George (Marina) Rossopoulo, Eric (Entela) Nova, Jim (Lindsey) Nova, Thekli Poulouki, Erato (George Kasimatis) Poulouki, Iro Poulouki, Vasoula (Xristos) Agapitithis, Sofia Dreko and Sotiri (Maria) Dreko.
A man of many talents, Peter graduated from Robert College in Constantinople and went on to receive a masters degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University through a scholarship award. He returned home to Constantinople, married his wife of 67 years, and served as an officer in the Turkish army. After “Ta Septembriana”, he and his wife emigrated to Chicago on a work visa with International Harvester. He went on to have an innovative and varied career as a business executive and earned his MBA from University of Chicago. He enjoyed a long retirement in Marco Island Florida, where he spent many years volunteering at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, oil painting, analyzing the stock market, swimming and taking long walks on the beach with his wife Thomasine.
Visitation Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 10:00 AM at Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church, 133 South Roselle Road, Palatine, IL 60067. Interment to follow at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church or BACOA Dementia Friendly Barrington Area, 6000 Garlands Lane, Suite 100, Barrington, IL 60010 would be appreciated.
