Demetra “Toula” Karvelas née Sellas, age 83, fell asleep in the Lord April 12, 2024. Beloved wife of Spero J. Karvelas for 62 years. Loving mother of Diane (Peter) Dellaportas, Joanne (John) Koudounis, Jamie Karvelas and John Karvelas. Devoted daughter of the late Apostolos and Diane Sellas. Proud grandmother of Deirdre Nicolopoulos, Nicole, Alexis and James Dellaportas, Constantina and Demi Koudounis, Kendall Karvelas, and Michael and Johnny Jordan. Great grandmother of Demi and Artemis Nicolopoulos. Dear sister of Lela (the late Thanasi) Karavasillis, Koletta (the late Vasili) Koskinas and the late Bill Sellas. Fond thea and friend of many. Member of Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church.
Toula met the love of her life, Spero “Spike” Karvelas, and became the matriarch of her family and raised four children with him. She was a force of life who loved to dance, entertain and laugh. She was an excellent chef and a passionate person. Toula loved to smile and lived life to the fullest.
Visitation Friday, April 19, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 2501 Wolf Rd, Westchester, IL 60154. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
