Anthony Carl Peterson finished his fight with cancer and passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 30, 2019 with family members at his side. He was born on May 27, 1959 in Kirksville, MO, the second child of Richard and Suzanne Peterson. He graduated from New Trier East in 1977 where he was the captain of the varsity basketball team. He also played for Hope College in Holland, MI. He met the love of his life, Laura Peterson, and together lovingly raised four children, Michael, Gregory, Anthony and Kathryn.
Tony loved selflessly and unconditionally. He showed us what love was and how to love big. He was a warrior throughout his battle with cancer and showed everyone what it meant to be Tonystrong. He had the gift of bringing together and guiding family, friends and people from all walks of life. He had an impact on everyone he met. Tony was an avid grill master and his passions included biking, fishing, and spending time with family. Tony’s relationship with God played a major role in his life. We know he has been welcomed with open arms at the gates of Heaven.
Cherishing Tony’s memory is his beloved wife, Laura Peterson; sons, Michael, Gregory (Madeline), Anthony and daughter, Kathryn. His spirit lives on through his children. He was the proud grandfather of Lily Grace. He was the devoted son of Richard and Suzanne Peterson; dear brother of Scot (Pamela) and Laura Erbe (Paul); son-in-law of John Childs (the late Alexandra); brother-in-law of John, Christopher, Philip (Monica), and Elena (Hugo); loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Tony was a member of Willow Creek North Shore Community Church.
We welcome all family and friends to join us for a memorial service to celebrate the life of Tony. It will be held at Willow Creek North Shore, 2200 Shermer Road, Glenview, IL 60026 on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow.
