Helen Pavlatos age 87, fell asleep in the Lord May 31, 2021. Beloved wife of Sam for 65 years. Loving mother of Randy (Catherine nee Penesis), Kerry (Jolie nee Tomasello) and the late Nikki. Devoted daughter of Warner and Flora Allen. Proud grandmother of Gregory and Alexis Pavlatos. Dear sister of Betty Joe Allen, the late Quinten Allen, Fred Allen, Billy Allen, Opal Allen, Athel Allen, Ruth Allen and Susan Allen. Fond aunt of Tina Kitowski, Damon Pavlatos, Tony Pavlatos, Rebecca Pappas, Donald Harrison, Theresa Wertz, Pat Panico, Peggy Bassuk, Chris Pavlatos, David Pavlatos, Linda Hraban, the late Leo Pavlatos and many others.

She was a much-loved wife, mother and grandmother who was always ready to lend a hand, serve a meal, or share a story on a moment’s notice. She was most noted for her green thumb (she could grow bushes on concrete) and her southern (Alabama) accent which she never really lost despite living in the Chicago area from her late teens. Lots of “taters and tomaters” in her dinners, and lots of southern colloquialisms in her stories, which will be dearly missed. She struggled with health issues the past year and a half, and she’s now at rest.

Visitation Monday, June 7, 2021 from 10:30 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:30 AM at Transfiguration Chapel in Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL with Interment to follow. Arrangements by Memory Eternal Funeral Directors, Ltd. 847-375-0095.

May Her Memory Be Eternal.
