Anne Chausis, nee Athanis, fell asleep in our Lord on October 21, 2022. Beloved wife of the late William P. Chausis. Loving mother of Carol Griseta and Philip (Charlene) Chausis. Proud grandmother of William, Vito, and Jeffrey (Lindsay) Griseta and Christopher Chausis and great-grandmother of Giovanni and Luciano Griseta. Dear sister of the late Harry (Barbara) Athanis, Peter (Kay) Athanis, Tom (Vi) Athanis, Mary (Pete) Anton, Helen Athanis, Peggy (survived by Gus) Panigrakis, and Irene Athanis and sister-in-law of Helen (the late William) Teuber and the late James Tsaousis. Devoted daughter of the late Gust and Bessie Athanis and daughter-in-law of the late Peter and Anita Tsaousis. Fond aunt and friend of many.

Anne was a tiny woman with a huge heart and a contagiously beautiful smile that would light up a room. She warmly welcomed visitors to her home, and would never let anyone leave empty-handed. Even into her nineties, she was sharp as could be, winning most of the Gin Rummy games she played with the family. She loved to tell stories with great detail, from yesterday to many, many years ago. She had an artistic flair for home decorating and would offer suggestions on how to improve your furniture layout or accessories in the kindest way possible. Anne’s caring and thoughtfulness left an imprint in everyone’s heart and brought joy to all who knew her. You always wanted more Anne, and more time with her.

Friends and family will meet on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 10:30AM for visitation at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 E. Dempster Street, Des Plaines with funeral service to follow at 11AM. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by Memory Eternal Funeral Directors, Ltd. 847-375-0095.

May her memory be eternal.
