Ross Economy, age 92, died peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 23rd. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Julia (nee Dimitropoulos). Loving father of George (Tina), Chris (Diane), and Phyllis (Jim) Tsevis. Most loving and proudest grandfather/pappou of Danielle (Alex) Pavlos, Stacy, Jillian, Christo, Julia, Anastasia, and Ross. Great-grandfather of Dimitri and Konstandina. Dearest brother of the late Frank (the late Jean) Economos and Sam (Efthemia) Economos. Dear brother-in-law of Steve (Dina) Dimitropoulos and the late Angelo (Kathy) Dimitropoulos. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, Godfather, and friend to everyone that had the honor of knowing him.
Ross was born in the village of Kandyla, Tripolis in Greece in 1930 to George and Garifallia Economopoulos. At 18 years old, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada, to find a better life and help support the family left behind. Ross worked tirelessly as a lumberjack in the forests of Canada. He then started in the restaurant business as a waiter, manager, and eventually a restauranteur. Ross ultimately settled in Chicago, and over the course of his lifetime was the proud owner of four restaurants: the Westwood, the Economy, the Doral, and the Riverwoods Inn.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28th from 10:00 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church, 1207 Riverwoods Rd, Lincolnshire, 60069. The Funeral Service will be live stream on Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church and on Ascension of Our Lord Facebook page. Interment will follow at Ridgewood Memorial Park, 9900 N. Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, 60016.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Ross. I remember her from Riverwoods inn and have picture with him somewhere. I miss those burgers so much, the best tasting burger ever
