Gus J. Philipps born in Vlachokerasia, Greece, age 94, fell asleep in our Lord’s arms July 4, 2022. Beloved husband of Bertha Philipps, nee Karamagianis, of 69 years. Loving father of Connie (Bill) Anderson, Pauline (Kurt) Philipps-Zabel, Kathy (Dimitrios) Giannakopoulos and Angela Philipps. Devoted son of Yannis and Kostantina Papaphilippou. Proud grandpa of Dina and Peter (Eleni) Giannakopoulos. Dear brother of the late Panos (Pitsa) Papaphilippou, Katerina (Nikos) Anargiros and Chris Papaphilippou. Dear brother-in-law of Mary (the late Peter) Korbos, Collette (the late Aristotle) Sarlas, Art (Irene) Karamagianis, the late Catherine (Evan) Kyriaz and Gust Karamagianis. Fond uncle of many here and in Greece. Cared for by two special ladies Christina and Anna and the Rainbow Hospice Team. Former owner of Gertie’s, Gus Snack Shop and Peter Pan Restaurant. Visitation Thursday, July 7 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nelson Funeral Home 820 West Talcott Road, Park Ridge, IL 60068. Interment will be private.
