Helen & Peter Kafkis

Helen (Eleni) Kafkis, and Peter (Pano) Kafkis, Husband and Wife, both age 91, passed away; Helen on Friday, April 3, 2020 then Peter, just five days later, on April 8, 2020. Loving parents of Angelo (Maria) and Steve (Denise) Kafkis, and proud grandparents of Peter, Elena, Eleni and Panayioti. Helen, was a devoted daughter of the late Efstathios and Stamatoula Dounos and Peter, a devoted son of the late Angelos and Vasiliki Kafkis. Helen was dear sister of Toula, Nikos, Takis, Christo, Dionysia, Aggeliki, and Georgia. Peter was dear brother of Greg, Anastasios, Sotiris, and Theofilos Kafkis. Fond aunt and respected uncle of many nieces, nephews and their families.

Helen and Peter grew up in Filiatra, Messinia, Greece. In 1961, they married and immigrated to Montreal where they started their family. They subsequently relocated their family to Chicago in 1967.

Helen and Peter were exceptionally family-oriented people and offered their children their endless support and love. It goes without saying that the greatest joy they would experience in their later years was to be around their beloved grandchildren. As for the love Helen and Peter had for each other during their 58-year marriage, it was something to behold. They had a never-ending devotion to one another, kindness and selflessness.

Funeral and Interment Services are private, however, St. George Greek Orthodox Church will live stream the service on their Facebook page on April 14, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may either be made to the family and mailed to John G. Adinamis Funeral Director, Ltd, 2720 S. River Road; Suite 154, Des Plaines, IL 60018, or in Helen and Peter’s names to St. George Greek Orthodox Church located at 2701 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.

May Their Memories Be Eternal.
