Joyce Maris née Clinnin, age 79, fell asleep in the Lord July 16, 2023. Beloved wife of George Maris for 58 years. Loving mother of Denise (Gary) Ten Hoven, Ann Marie (Patrick) McMahon, Jennifer (Mike) Maris, Patty (Mark) Wennerberg and Michael (Vincent) Maris. Devoted daughter of the late Ralph Dudley and Veronica Clinnin. Proud grandmother of Micaela (Matt) Zimmer, Mariah Ten Hoven, Marisa (Joe) Peña, Kathleen McMahon, Brian McMahon, Brendan McMahon, Aidan McMahon and Mason Wennerberg. Great grandmother of Ollivander Zimmer, Stephanie Peña, Sophia Macias and Mayreen McMahon. Dear sister of Ralph Clinnin, Judy (the late Ray) Smejek, the late Jim (Kathy) Clinnin, Jeanne Clinnin and Phillip (Judy) Clinnin. Fond aunt and cousin of many.
Joyce had a big heart and always looked after everyone else in her life. She was generous, thoughtful, a great gift-giver and a fighter as well as a peace maker.
Visitation Friday, July 21 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 North Sheridan Road, Chicago, IL 60660. The Funeral Service may be viewed live or recorded at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. Joyce was a wonderful lady. I will never forget her kindness and generosity over many years throughout my childhood. Though it’s been many years since I’ve seen Joyce and her family I have many fond memories that I carry with me. Very saddened by her passing and May God rest her soul and grant peace and comfort to her many family and friends that I grieve with today. May her memory be eternal.
