Peter Photopoulos, fell asleep in our Lord on October 25, 2022. Beloved husband of Penelope Photopoulos nee Panagakis. Loving father of the late Dimitra Photopoulos and James P. (Joyce) Photopoulos and Dina (Dean) Pinos. Proud grandfather of Elias, Mila, and Reena Photopoulos and George and Maria Pinos. Dear brother of Eugenia (the late Aresti) and the late Foti (survived by Yiannoula), Pereklis (survived by Georgia), and Georgia (the late Kostas) and six siblings who passed very young. His six brothers-in-law thought of him as a brother and treated him as such. Cherished son of the late Dimitra and Dimitrios Photopoulos. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many who will miss him.
After leaving Greece, Peter met his beautiful wife, Penelope, in Melbourne, Australia, his three children were born there, and spent ten glorious years there. He worked at the Ford Motor Plant shortly then moved on to a management position at a bakery. He LOVED Melbourne, Australia! In 1972, he migrated to the United States. He joined several of his brothers-in-law and began his restaurant career. In his later years, Peter was the proud owner of Photos Hotdogs in Palatine. One of the highlights of Peter’s life was being involved in his five grandchildren’s lives. Peter was also the President of the American Association of his birth village in Greece, Aetos. He organized multiple dinner dances for the Aetos Association. He marched in the Greek American parade every year representing Aetos. Everyone and anyone who came across his path loved him. He had a certain glow and positive energy that drew everyone’s love. Anyone that met him said the same thing: “He is so nice.”
