Vickie Manolis passed away on December 16, 2020, one week shy of her 99th birthday. She was lovingly called “Thea” by three generations of family, as well as friends and extended family. Cherished aunt of Laurie (Joe) Dakis, Elaine (late Angelo) Buscaglia, William (Cathy) Tarant, Doreen (Brad) DeSent, Christine (James) Trammel, Deb (late Bill Corliss), Maria Carter and Robert (Allison) Kirby. Devoted grand-aunt of Steffanie Dakis Danby, George Dakis, Nick (Alexandria) Tarant, Diana (Gavin) Schmidt, Allison (Alvaro) Lima, Kristin (Kyle) Ryan, Ashley Kirby, Carrie (Matt) Moody, Tom Lizarraga, Michael Lizarraga, Ryan Kirby and Jordan (Tanji) Corliss. Dear great grand-aunt of Kaylee, Jack, Alexa, Joey, Chase, Logan, Cora, Grace, Zoe, Tyler, Attikus, Gianna, William, Reece, Alex and Eleni. Predeceased by her parents William and Dorothy Manolis; and by her siblings and their spouses: Julie (Nick) Tarant, Tom (Carrie) Manolis and Patricia (Richard) Kirby.
Vickie was the beloved center of the family, remembering every birthday and taking great delight in welcoming each new little one. She was the first to offer help or support when anyone needed it. A woman of strong faith, Vickie often volunteered at church until mobility issues in her later years made it difficult. An avid reader, she mastered using the computer for email, Facebook and games in her late 90s (with some family tech support!)
In light of current healthcare guidelines, the Funeral Services are private. You may watch as SS Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church livestreams the Funeral on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. by by visiting https://ssppglenview.org. Aunt Vickie I will miss your laugh, your advice, and your wonderful sense of humor. Your bantering with my dad, your first cousin, Andy Bratsakis, is forever a wonderful memory. You can continue your banter together now. I’m so glad you had your wonderful nieces and nephews to appreciate and love you on a daily basis. You were a bright light of mine as well and we had many laughs together also. You were great at making sense of what didn’t make sense to me. I will miss you but will still talk to you often.

Aunt Vickie was my savior when we moved to the Chicago area in 1985 right after Christmas. It was freezing, we moved into a filthy furnished apartment while our house was being finished. I had a 5-week old baby, a toddler and a 6 year-old and a dog! I was homesick and overwhelmed! She came immediately to our rescue with “Mr. Hoover,” and cleaned, besides making us all laugh. Thea Vickie, it was a blessing to know you. Driving to church with you those few times was always filled with laughter. When I look to my left at church I will still see you sitting there praying for all of us as we will be praying for your soul. Memory Eternal. Oh, by the way, try not to get in too much trouble with Aunt Martha.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Vicky’s family. I didn’t know her personally, but when I would go to church at Peter and Paul, she always said hello to me and was extremely kind. May she rest in peace ????️

We were so sad to hear of Vickie’s passing. She was always so kind to our family, especially to our three children. She used to take them for rides on her walker at church coffee hour. Vicky and Mary welcomed us with open arms when we walked into the church with our three little ones making us feel so welcomed and because of them is why we continued and made the church our home. I’ll always remember her hugs and kisses and saying she loved us.

Cousin Vickie will be remembered by all of us who knew her as loving kind and generous, always up to the task no matter what it required.
