John S. Kouris, (Kourvetaris), from Kastri, Kynourias (Agios Nikolas) Greece, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2019. Beloved husband for over 54 years of Panagiota, nee Apergis, and devoted father of Katherine “Katina” Kouris. Loving son of the late Spyridon and Ekaterini Kourvetaris. Dear brother of Maria (Panagiotis) Apostolou and preceded in death by siblings George, Eleni, Athanasios and Magdalene. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews and their families. Past President of the Society of Kastritans, Chicago Chapter.
John’s favorite past times included coffee hour with friends, watching Chicago sports teams, lots of cooking and listening to Greek music all day. In the last 6.5 years, despite various health set-backs, John’s strength, courage and determination have taught his wife and daughter to have faith and carry on with music and ice cream in their lives.
Family and friends will meet on Thursday morning, October 17, 2019, for Visitation at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral service at 10:00 a.m. at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 Caldwell Ave., Niles, IL 60174. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie, IL. Kindly omit flowers.
