Electra M. Tarsinos, nee Milonas, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Louis D. and loving mother of Jim (Gail), Athena, Thalia, and Pericles (Marnie) Tarsinos. Devoted daughter of the late Peter and the late Sophia Milonas; proud grandmother of Elias (Margaret), Elias, and Evan; great-grandmother of Stayton. Dear sister of the late George (Eugenia) Milonas and fond aunt and cousin of many.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday morning, January 15, 2019, for Visitation at 9:30 am and Funeral Service at 10:00 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 Caldwell Ave., Niles, IL 60174. I belong to Friends-in-Council in Princeton, IL. I joined long after Electra. Friends is a study group that involves researching an aspect of the topic chosen for the year, then presenting the results to the group, and participating in discussions. While the research is fascinating, the presentation can be intimidating. Electra was a mentor to me during the process as she was to other members in the group, instructing us as well in the nuances of our constitution, in place since 1880. I concur, Harriette. Electra was a force to be reckoned with in Friends in Council, which is how I knew her as well. When I joined she was kind and helpful to me in my research. During one of our programs I gave a small speech that included my own family’s history with the sinking of the Eastland, Chicago’s largest maritime disaster. She came up to me afterwards, complimented my speech, and said she had researched the Eastland disaster a few years previous when the group covered a year on Chicago history. I was sadden to learn of the passing of Electra ,she was a kind friend to me when we both were members of the Greek Womens University Club here in Chicago ,Electra also introduced me to her friends at Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church.We shared a common connection to the folks in Princeton Il.,as my sons grandparents were the late Chick and Wanita Loberg.I recall her excitement when she shared the news with me that Alfreda Bouxsin had intended an invitation to her to join Friends in Council.Memory Eternal to a lovely person.
