Our Matriarch of our family has fallen asleep in the Lord. Dimitra Bereveskos (nee Shismenos), 97 passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020. Wife of the late George Bereveskos, loving mother of Spiro (Lisa Hiday) Bereveskos, Eleni (Paul) Lanzourakis, the doting Yiayia of Fr. Nicholas (Presvytera Elaine) Lanzourakis, Eric (Kristen) Berevekos, George Lanzourakis, Demitra Bereveskos, Yiorgos Bereveskos, Lurilla Bereveskos, and Alissa Bereveskos, Great Yiayia to Polydoros and Konstandinos Lanzourakis. She was a fond aunt, cousin, and friends of many here and in Greece.

Dimitra grew up in Palaiopyrgos Nafpaktia Greece, married her husband on August 24, 1952 and immigrated in 1956, as she used to say to her second village, Indianapolis, IN. She lived her life with determination and devotion to God. She enjoyed baking and cooking for all her friends and family. When she put a dinner on; it rivaled any five star restaurants. It never mattered how many surprise guests came to dinner; they left with their appetites satisfied and plates of food to take home. Everyone was welcome in her home; there were no strangers. She was there for everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. Many that knew her called her a living angel here on earth.
