Emily Kafkes, age 89, passed away on August 29, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born August 10, 1932 to Dionysios and Stamatoula Karavites, nee Korobilas, in Filiatra, Greece. Beloved wife of the late Anastasios (Tom) Kafkes for 62 years. Loving Mother of Bessie (James) Hatzis, George (Anastasia) Kafkes, and Angelo (Lamprini) Kafkes. Proud grandmother of George Hatzis, Thomas (Melissa) Hatzis, Thomas (Alison) Kafkes, Elyse (Ben) Cox, Emily (Jonathan) Gonzalez, Emily Kafkes, and Julia Kafkes. Great grandmother to George Kafkes and Jordan Hatzis. Sister of the late Yianni (the late Meropi) Karavites, the late Panayioti Karavites, and the late George Karavites. Sister-in-law of the late Gregory (the late Efstathia) Kafkes, the late Panayioti (the late Eleni) Kafkis and Theofilos (the late Evangelia) Kafkes. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, September 3, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 2701 North Sheffield Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614.
