Panagiotis “Pete” “Takis” Haleas, age 79, fell asleep in our Lord on November 30, 2021. Beloved husband of 51 years to Kanella. Loving father of John (Diana) and Mike (Mary). Proud pappou (grandfather) of Peter and Chris. Dear brother of Demetrios (Marianne), Tasos (late Panagoula), the late Fofo, the late Eleni and dear brother-in-law of the late Eleni (Louis) Latsis. Darling son of the late John and Evdokia. As a long time small business owner, he was lovingly known in the neighborhood as “Pete the Greek”. His contributions to the neighborhood and the community are too long to list. Pete/Takis was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved and was willing to make any personal sacrifice for them. His love for his family is second only to his love for God, where he devoted his time giving to the church as a psalti. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of John and Mike and adored Kanella. Marriage made Diana and Mary family, but he loved them as if they were his own daughters. Anyone who knew Pete/Takis knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Dear uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly. Family and friends will meet at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2701 Sheffield Avenue, Chicago on Saturday, December 4, at 10AM for visitation with funeral service to follow at 11AM. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church (100th Anniversary fund) 2701 N. Sheffield Ave. Chicago, IL would be appreciated to purchase a new chanter stand to honor his love for Byzantine Music. Arrangement by Memory Eternal Funeral Director, Ltd. 847-375-0095.

May his Memory Be Eternal.
