Michael Peter Joannou, 84, fell asleep in the Lord on October 20, 2023. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Georgia Joannou, his loving children Mary (Vas) Vasiliadis, Fofy (John) Loucopoulos and Peter Joannou, and his devoted grandchildren Georgia Loucopoulos, Costa Loucopoulos, Fotis Vasiliadis, and Michelle Vasiliadis.
Michael, son of Petros and Fofo Joannou, recently moved to Glenview from Cape Town, South Africa. He will be sorely missed by his sister Kitsa Bertsatos, and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Penny Makris, Savas Rissiotis, Sakis Bertsatos, Anna Sophia Pihakis, and Tina Bertsatos.
Michael’s memory is treasured by his family and many friends around the world whose lives he touched. His absence leaves a void, but his love will be with us forever.
Visitation Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 12:00 PM at Saint Lazarus Greek Orthodox Chapel, 9900 North Milwaukee Avenue, Des Plaines, IL 60016. The Funeral Service may be viewed live or recorded at Memory Eternal Funerals Facebook. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 North Caldwell Avenue, Niles, IL 60714 would be appreciated.
