Angelo N. Karavites, born on March 6, 1933, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 25, 2019, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Janet (Yore) Karavites. Born in Paleohorion, Kynourias, Arcadia Greece, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Metaxia (Kolokouris) Karavites. He moved to America at the age of 15 and became a member of the Society Paleohorion, Kynourias. Angelo, along with Janet, was proud to be a McDonald’s owner operator for over 40 years. During this time, he won numerous awards as a franchisee and fostered a love of the business in his children. Devoted Father to Metaxia (Raymond) Schmitz, Nicholas (Lindsey) Karavites, Athena (Rob) Pruim, the late Demetrius Karavites, and Iphigeneia Karavites. Loving grandfather of Trevor, Ian, and Gavin Schmitz, Kalliope, Sarafina, Lukas, Alexander, and Zakary Pruim, and Jakob and Emma O’Connell. Dear brother to the late Peter (late Adamadia) Karavites, the late Demetrios Karavites, Georgia (late George) Tsapralis, Kiki (Stanley) Stevens and the late Effie (late Tony) Diamond. Loving Brother-in-law of MaryAnn (Bill) Baer, Nancy (Jeff) Hoffman, Thomas (Alan) Yore, Dona (Joe) Gradowski, and Dann (Mary) Swan. Fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road, Park Ridge on Tuesday evening from 4pm to 8pm and also Wednesday morning, from 10am – 10:30am at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago on Wednesday at 10:30am. Entombment to follow at the Mausoleum at Memorial Park Cemetery 9900 Gross Point Rd. Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Angelo’s name to Ronald McDonald Children’s Charity of Chicago and Northwest Indiana (www.rmhccni.org) would be appreciated.
