Elaine J. Simms nee Mitchell, fell asleep in our Lord on June 10, 2023. Beloved wife of the late James S. Simms. Loving mother of John, Stephanie (John) Dalinis, Adrienne, Margaret (James) Boylan, James Jr., Gregory (Pam), Christine (Chris) Caprio, and Christopher Simms. Proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Cherished daughter of the late Margaret and John Mitchell. Dear sister of Irene (the late Richard) Pokriefke. Dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many who will miss her.
Those who knew Elaine understand that she had a special place in her heart for the Patio Theater and also old western movies. Some of her favorite days were spent sitting in her garden admiring her roses and hydrangeas while listening to the sounds of all the birds that came by and visited. She enjoyed making ceramic items ranging from teapots to soap dishes to decorative figurines and found comfort in hearing her grandfather clock and ornate cuckoo clock chime every hour.
Family and friends will meet for visitation at 9:30AM on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 601 W. Central Ave., Chicago with funeral service to follow at 10:30AM. The service can be viewed live or recorded at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Youtube Channel. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove.
