Panagiota Gavaris, age 85, fell asleep in the Lord August 13, 2023. Devoted daughter of the late Nicolas and Stavroula Gavaris. Dear sister of Maria (Panagiotis) Asimakopoulos, Georgia Gavaris and the late Polyzoes (Eleftheria) Gavaris. Fond aunt of Carnie (Lee) Aquila, Eliana (Fasal) Uddin, Nicole (Robert) Johnsen, Nikolaos Gavaris. Great aunt of Ava Johnsen, Christopher Johnsen, Alyssa Uddin, Alexander Uddin and Jonathon Aquila. Fond cousin and friend of many. Godmother Thekla Leah Elmazi, John Ades, Olga Stamos and Efrosini Bodouvas.
Panagiota was an avid gardener and painter. She was deeply devoted to her family, especially her home town of Arna Laconia, Greece. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society of Annunciation Cathedral for over 30 years.
Visitation Friday, August 18, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 11:00 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 West Winona Street, Chicago, IL. Interment to follow at Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
