Panagiota “Paula” Kalogeropoulos, age 51, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020. Devoted daughter of Ageliki “Koula”, nee Filopoulos, and the late Louis K. Kalogeropoulos, and beloved sister of Constantine “Dino” and Vasilis “Billy” Kalogeropoulos. Dear niece of the late Vasilis (the late Georgia) Kalogeropoulos, and cousin to their children, Kostadinos, Christina and Dimitrios; the late Athanasia, nee Kalogeropoulos, (the late Yiannis) Sarantopoulos, and cousin to their children, Panagiota, Irini and Sophia; the late Yiannis (the late Katerina, nee Kokoris) Kalogeropoulos, and cousin to their children, Panagiota, Eleni, Kostadinos and Nikolaos; the late Nikoleta, nee Kalogeropoulos, (the late Antonios) Kolokotronis, and cousin to their children, Kostadinos, Georgios and Kyriazis; Ourania, “Nia”, nee Filopoulos, (the late Vasilis) Tzannis and cousin to their children, Ilias, Eleni and Spiros; Barbara P., nee Filopoulos, (the late Peter) Georgelos and cousin to their children, George, JoAnn, Paul and Spiros.
Paula lived her life simply, but with determination and grace. After earning her Master Degree in Special Education from National-Louis University, Paula went on to become a special education teacher and was very proud of her chosen field. She spent her leisure time coaching and playing soccer, cooking, and loved her garden and her beloved dog, Oreo.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Nelson Funeral Home located at 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), in Park Ridge, Illinois. Due to COVID-19 health guidelines, we are limited to 50 guests at a time. We respectfully ask that you quickly exit the funeral home, after paying your respects to the family, so that all visitors have an opportunity to enter. If you are not feeling well, it is requested that you stay home, rest and share your condolences online at jgadinamis.com. Masks and proper social distancing are mandatory. The coffee lounge is not available for use, so please refrain from bringing food or beverage into the funeral home.
Family and friends will gather, by invitation only, for the Funeral Service on Thursday morning, September 24, 2020, at 11:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church located at 2350 W. Dempster Street, (at I-294 Tri-State Tollway) in Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.
