Stella Antonoglu, nee Galanis, fell asleep in our Lord on January 21, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Nick Antonoglu. Loving mother of John (Becky) Antonoglu and Irene (Robert Rohrman) Antonoglu. Proud Yiayia of William, Nicholas, Julie, Artemis, and Alexander. Cherished daughter of the late Angeliki and Panagiotis Galanis. Dear sister of George (the late Angela) Galanis, Niko (Litsa) Galanis, and Sia (Ed) Toliopoulos. Dear aunt, cousin, godmother, and friend to many who will miss her. Stella loved reading, dancing, cooking, sewing, crafting, and teaching Sunday School. She unwaveringly supported Hellenism, loved travel and adventure, going to museums, and visiting historical sites. She was our family ambassador, hospitable to all, generous to the homeless and people in need. A limitless ball of energy, she was young at heart, enjoyed a great party, and hosted some of the best ones. She loved being serenaded by our dad, and is now with him enjoying his company. She will be greatly missed. Friends and family will meet on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10AM at St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 733 S. Ashland Avenue, Chicago for visitation with funeral service to follow at 11AM. Interment Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove. Before she passed Stella requested that guests wear pink or floral in her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Stella’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by Memory Eternal Funeral Directors, Ltd. 847-375-0095.

May her memory be eternal.

The world has truly lost some of its luster with the passing of Stella. She was truly one of the most incredible women I have ever known. Her smile and laugher were infectious. Her spirit was luminous, and her capacity for love and compassion endless. I feel honored and privileged to have known her through one of her greatest gifts bestowed upon us in her daughter, Irene, who embodies all that was Stella and will no doubt carry her extraordinary legacy.  May wonderful memories, together with the thoughts, prayers and love surrounding you at this most difficult and painful time bring you all… Read more »
