Victoria Jean Garcia-Doney, of Chicago, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at her summer home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, James Doney, mother, Maureen Campbell, brother, Chris Garcia, brother and sister-in-laws, Kevin (Terri) Doney, Judy (Bob) Weissbeck, and Sue McCahill, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Vicki also left behind Bogey, her “handsome boy” golden retriever. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, Harold Garcia, father-in-law, James M. Doney, sister-in-law, Darla Garcia, sister-in-law, Kathy Robinson and brother-in-law, Gary Robinson. Vicki was a loving wife to Jim, devoted daughter, aunt, sister and dear friend who was always there when you needed her. Vicki’s most endearing qualities were her unconditional love and steadfast Faith throughout her life – she opened her heart to everyone she met. She was an incredibly strong woman who faced life’s obstacles with courage and grace – a true inspiration to her friends and family. Vicki will always be remembered for her quick wit, charismatic smile and her innate ability to face any challenge with strength and determination. Vicki was born on January 29, 1964, in Hammond, Indiana. She was raised in Griffith, Indiana and was a graduate of Purdue University. After graduation, she moved to Chicago and worked for Romano Brothers Beverage, The Paddington Corporation, Diageo and Millennium Import Co. where many of her customers and colleagues quickly became lifelong friends. On October 16, 1999, Vicki married the love of her life, Jim, and they resided in Chicago and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Vicki’s greatest passion was being a caring wife to Jim and their beloved dog, Bogey. She loved to spend time at their beach house in Rehoboth Beach – the beach was truly her “happy place.” Vicki was a devout member of Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Vicki to the Lurie Cancer Center, ℅ Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Attn: Nicole Langert, 420 East Superior Street, Rubloff Building, 9th Floor, Chicago, IL 60611. Visitation Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home, 4800 North Austin Avenue, Chicago, IL 60630. Friends and family will meet Friday, September 9, 2022 10:30 AM for a Funeral Mass Friday, at Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 2215 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL 60618.
