An old lady with white hairs smiling at the camera

Caroline M. Williams fell asleep in our Lord on August 19th. Caroline was born to James and Mary Mantikos (nee Mosagna) on July 20, 1925 in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of the late Dale Williams and former wife of the late Robert E. Lux. Cherished sister to the late Christy Mantikos. Loving mother of Steven (Jane) Lux, Michael Lux, and the late James Lux. Loving Yiayia of James, Hallie, Rachel, and Scott (Jesse) and great-grandmother of Ember, Iris, and Joey. Godmother to Cathy Fasseas. Lifelong friend and honorary mom and grandma to the Robert and Marilyn Meersman Family. Dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many who will miss her infectious smile and positive spirit.

Always active, even in her later years, Caroline delighted in celebrations and parties, and she had many.  She participated fully in life, only recently giving up driving and her high heels.

Caroline loved her church and was an active member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, its philanthropic arm. She volunteered for numerous philanthropic, fellowship and religious activities including the annual Greek Fest. She was loved and admired for her involvement and kindness to all in the church family. It was a source of pride that Father Chris Mihalopoulos titled her the “matriarch of the church.”

She was an ardent Cubs fan and was recognized at Wrigley by the team for a recent birthday. She was an avid traveler who loved Greece, cruises and Las Vegas. She enjoyed going to the Palatine Senior Center to socialize, play bingo and exercise. She also enjoyed reading mysteries, tending to her flowers and playing games on her laptop.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Karen and JourneyCare Hospice for their care and comfort, and to Oksana for her personal care. Also, to goddaughter Cathy, Father Chris and Caroline’s church family, who visited, called and surrounded her with love, we will always be grateful.

Visitation Thursday, August, 31st, 9 AM at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church (133 S Roselle Rd, Palatine, IL 60067) with service to follow at 10 AM. The service may be viewed live at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox YouTube. Internment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Caroline’s name to St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church (stnectariosgoc.org) or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
