Dena Colovos, a vibrant and spirited soul, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on July 30, 2023, at The Admiral, where she spent her final years in comfort. Dena was the daughter of the late Peter and Irene Colovos, and was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Soto (Phyllis) Colovos. Dena’s zest for life was infectious and touched the hearts of everyone she encountered with her warmth, radiant smile, and belly laugh. Her gracious demeanor and sharp sense of humor brought joy and laughter to those around her. An ardent lover of the arts, Dena’s passion for creativity led her on journeys far and wide, which she eagerly shared with her students, friends, and family. Exploring art museums, botanical gardens, attending fashion shows, and discovering new restaurants brought her immense joy and inspiration. Deeply rooted in her Greek heritage, Dena cherished her culture and delighted in sharing its traditions and delicious cuisine with her loved ones, affectionally referred as the “Paximathia Queen”. Though she had no children of her own, Dena embraced her role as a loyal daughter, caring teacher, and showered her nieces and nephews with boundless love, unwavering support, and endless curiosity. Dena Colovos will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she enriched, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of exuberance for life that will forever be treasured. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Survived by her sister, Eugenia (John) Demos, Dena Colovos will be deeply missed and forever loved by family and friends.
