Stella Housakos née Atsaves, age 95, fell asleep in the Lord December 27, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Dr. George Housakos. Devoted daughter of the late Louis and Antonia Atsaves. Loving mother of Paula (Richard) Gilbert, Antonia (Jeffrey) Tollefsen, Maria (David) Coons and Julia (George) Mantice. Cherished grandmother of Stephen (Shawna) and Jonathan (Megan) Gilbert, Kristin Cohagen, Christopher (Stephanie) Tollefsen, Stefanie (Alex) Blazek, Adam (Courtney) Coons, Jennifer (Kyle) Concannon, and Thomas, Maria and Alexandra Mantice. Loving great grandmother of Brantley, Colt, Taylor, Tyler, Blair, Christopher, Sloane, Charles and Connor. Dear sister of George (Phyllis), Christ (Demetra) and Peter (Patricia) Atsaves. Proud aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Stella was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church and Philoptochos for more than 50 years. Her life was dedicated to her family and Greek Orthodox faith. She was an avid reader and writer, loved art, music and cooking. She was a lifetime member of the Pan Laconian Federation and member of Spartia Brotherhood of Chicago.
Visitation Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 10:00 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Road, Glenview, IL 60025. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Saints Peter and Paul Agape Christian Academy would be appreciated.
